Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27 He enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated in 1994. He also appeared on The Killing, a drama series that aired worldwide. He then appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill Two internationally popular Danish dramas. He also played a major character in the BBC drama Sherlock in which he played the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American television series House of Cards, he played the role of the president of Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 in recognition of his role in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This series was telecast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in the year 2019. According to Mikkelsen's statement, he learned English from his brother through listening to Monty Python recordings and watching the sketches of comedy.
